Yesterday (29th April 2025), USP College European Parliament Junior Ambassadors and A-Level politics students went on a trip to the Imperial War Museum in Lambeth, London.

The trip was organised for the college's third annual CPD Day by senior ambassador and A-Level politics teacher Darren Cogavin, who organised it for junior ambassadors and politics students to further their understanding of war and conflict.

At the museum, junior ambassadors and politics students saw memorabilia from the first and second World Wars, including weaponry, vehicles, uniforms, equipment and more. Students and junior ambassadors also saw the IWM's Holocaust Galleries, learning about the Nazi regime's crimes and mass-extermination against innocent Jewish people across Europe.

Two bronze busts displayed on a white shelf. One face is of Clement Attlee, the other of Winston Churchill. The setting is minimal and subdued.

Other wars and conflicts were also showcased, including the Invasion of Iraq in 2003, the Falklands War, the Turkish War of Independence, the Anschluß of Austria and the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

Display case with Northern Ireland political memorabilia: map, rosette, tape, pamphlet, and emblem, featuring red and blue colors.

The EPAS team will now use what they learned from the trip to help them work on VE Day commemorations with the USP College student union next week.

Stay tuned for more!
